My favorite spots in Hamburg

Being from Norway, Germany is a country that is close by and I have visited quite a few cities there. But to be honest, most of those visits have been to see my bestfriend or on an interrail tour with another friend. I have been to Hamburg thrice and here are my absolute favorite spots to visit, in no particular order.

Speicherstadt

A UNESCO world heritage site that was built between year 1883 and 1927. It is also the world´s largest warehouse complex.

The brickbuildings are amazing and will make all of your photos stand out on Instagram. A walk around here will have you walking around a place filled with rich history. There are also attractions such Miniatur Wonderland and Hamburg Dungeon located within Speicherstadt and worth visiting.

Rathaus

The architecture is stunning to look at and is in the design of neo-Renaissance architecture. There are also tours to visit the inside of the building that lasts for about 40 minutes.

Surrounding Rathaus you can find restaurants, cafes and stores. Somehow I always end up going to Alsterfleet, sit down and snack on something with the swans there.

Planten un Blomen

Another fantastic background for your pictures while in Hamburg.

Europe´s largest Japanese garden is to be found in Planten un Blomen. Bring yourself some Japanese snack, sit down and enjoy the view. You can also make it seem like you travelled to Japan while still in Hamburg.

It is a relaxing spot away from the bustling within the city.

Elbphilharmonie

Elphi is an iconic landmark and an acoustic innovantion which let´s you hear the sound from the stage just as good from every seat in the room.

The building is definitly very eyecatching and is worth a visit. Personally, I have yet to be inside, but it is possible to book tickets to the events happening there allowing you to experience the acoustics. If not, Elphi also has guided tours you can sign up for.

Street Art in Hamburg

Hamburg has some amazing street art decorating the city. It can be found in areas such as St. Pauli, Sternschanze and Karolinenviertel. These areas also have the option of booking a guided tour to make sure you see all of the street art.

Landungsbrucken

It is the most famous water station in Hamburg where you can board various harbour tours. In the summer it is also very nice to buy an ice cream and just relax while looking at the passing ships.
